The Center for Health Education & Research - Morehead, Kentucky

Opened in June, 2010, this building was the fruit of a collaborative effort by St. Claire Regional (SCR) Medical Center, Morehead State University and the University of Kentucky. St. Claire programs residing in the new building include the St. Claire Family Medicine-Morehead (primary care clinic), St. Claire Family Medicine Residency, St. Claire Telecare and the Northest Kentucky Area Health Education Center.

Before the residency moved into this new building and continuity clinic site, the residents were driving 28 miles from SCR to Frenchburg or Sandy Hook for their continuity clinic.

Moving the continuity clinic will decrease resident travel time and will help facilitate such patient-centered activites as attending continuity deliveries at the hospital. There are unique and special training opportunities in the Frenchburg & Sandy Hook continuity clinic sites and that provide distint experiences for rural family medicine residents. A Health Professions Shortage Area experience has been developed giving the residents the opportunity to learn the ropes of bread and butter. Family Medicine is one of these federally designated shortage areas.
