PHILOSOPHY
The St. Claire Family Medicine Residency received ACGME approval on June 8, 2000. The program is fully supported by enthusiastic, highly competent medical staff. We have a competency-based curriculum with emphasis on procedural skills, practice management and patient-doctor interactions. The program is a collabrative effort with the University of Kentucky Family Medicine Program. The University of Kentucky residency program was established in 1972, and has excelled at producing quality family physicians since its inception.
Our strengths include multiple use of technology (e.g. telemedicine, internet and a planned research-capable electronic medical record), full access to all areas of hospital care, a progressive community and a culturally diverse medically under served rural patient population. It is the only residency in the area that has traditionally been oriented to comprehensive care by family physicians.
